Why Do It Yourself?

If you haven't been to Florida, don't believe all you see in those glossy brochures. Hotel rooms are typically (but I stress by no means all) very basic, often connected by outside landings with 2 double beds and a bathroom at the far end. You'll find the air conditioning unit under the window that looks onto the landing - sounds familiar I'm sure to those of you who have been before.

If you have a young family, when they go to bed--so do you! You have to! You have nowhere else to go. Think about it! The theme parks can be very tiring and if the children or you need an impromptu nap then you are very limited in what the rest of the family can do.
A holiday in a Luxury Private home gives you so much more freedom & choice. Our homes are large, spacious and luxurious with a lounge, separate bedrooms and bathrooms plus of course the pool and patio area so if you do want go and lose yourself whilst the rest of the family are doing something else, you can. A private home also means that you can order up something from the local deli, pizza parlour or Chinese and have it delivered to your door--or if you wish to cook you can do with an extensively equipped kitchen.

One of the benefits of DIY holidays is that you have a wide variety of choice in terms of flights and car hire. You don't have to be cramped up in a package tour holiday jet but you can relax in style flying with Virgin, British, Delta or American airlines, to name but a few--with a variety of departure airports and times the choice really is yours. Ever flown long haul on a charter jet? It's not for the faint hearted.

So what's the catch? Well I don't think there is one really. Driving? Not a problem. If having your own transport and avoiding having to wait for coaches or shuttle buses isn't attractive enough, think of the other journeys you can make under your own steam - Kennedy Space Centre, Busch Gardens, the Outlet and other Malls, the Gulf Coast and for the really adventurous - Florida Keys.  Driving really is easier in the US. Personally, I came back from Florida on my first trip and demanded to know why we drive manual transmission cars whilst Americans drive the vastly superior Automatic!
